Douglas Kay – Edinburgh
During the past decade Douglas Kay has honed his stagecraft in theatres, clubs & bars across 4 continents. In addition to dates in North America, Europe, Australasia and Africa he has played a number of notable gigs in the UK alongside the likes of Billy Bragg, KT Tunstall, Amy MacDonald and Grammy Award winner Colin Hay. His albums have been played worldwide. His latest album “Lift” is perhaps his most balanced work to date, a collection which blends contemporary folk, rootsy pop, haunting piano ballads and melodic harmonies. The songs are bound together by Kay’s captivating, lyrics, and by his warm, distinctive vocals.
Journey North
Journey North are a 5 piece acoustic Scottish folk rock band based in Perthshire, Tayside and Fife, Scotland. Drawing on a mix of musical backgrounds from rock and blues to world class pipe bands, they blend the instruments and storytelling traditions of Scottish music with the dynamics of a rock band. The result is a sound a style which, while paying due deference to their influences, is uniquely their own. In their relatively short time together, they have released two albums and alongside their own gigs they have supported the Peatbog Fairies as well as Fife’s own Break The Butterfly. Their love of playing live is clear to see and their near telepathic musical interplay means they are not afraid to add to and adapt their songs, making each performance different.
