Please join Liz Clark aka Auntie Liz on TWAL (Travels With My Auntie Liz 8-10pm ) On Tues 15th March 2022 when she will be in conversation with Nan Avant an award winning Composer, Orchestrator and Musician, residing of Seattle debuting her most recent work at 9pm GMT.
‘Tributum’ – Which won the 13th Annual Independent Music Vox Populi Award for best instrumental Song and the nominee in many other prestigious awards . Was taken up by PARMA Recordings, along with Nan, to bring this stunning work to fruition, even during the pandemic and all the challenges that it brought. Featuring RSNO conducted by David Watkins, with Lorne MacDougall on the Great Highland Bagpipes and Ryan Murphy on Uillean Pipes. It was released By Navona Records ‘Legends & Light Vol 2’ on 18th Feb 2022
Nan has been listening to an eclectic mix of music since birth ranging from ‘Symphonies, South American, Tangos and Peruvian waltzes’ with more than a nod to her Peruvian heritage. She studied piano from an early age and also learned to play the balalaika and started to compose for piano. Graduating from Cornish School of Arts with a B.F.A. Degree in Piano Performance from California Institute of Arts studying with tutors such as Pulitzer Priz-winning composer Mel Powell as well as master classed with Richard Goode and Aaron Copland, not to mention coaching sessions with Leonard Stein. Going on to studying Film Scoring, Jazz Ensemble and Orchestration.

Lorne MacDouglall. Lorne world renowned award winning musician, composer, tutor – playing with such bands as The Tannahill Weavers / Red Hot Chilli Pipers, his own solo album ‘Hello World’ and as a Young Traditional Musician on ‘TMSA Young Trad Tour 2011’.
