Join me Liz Clark aka Auntie liz on CMR on Saturday 29th June when she will be in conversation with Moilish and Zach of the cptivating indie trad band DLÙ who took to the stage at SWG3 Warehouse in Glasgow on Friday 28th June to launch their new album Close To. Release on the same day, Close To unveils an evolved style, hailing the start of a new era for the dynamic five-piece.
The band’s second album blends fast-paced traditional music with some modern elements of pop and dance to create a completely unique and distinctive sound which the band will bring to life for Glasgow audiences this June
The band, consisting of Moilidh NicGriogair (vocals, fiddle), Zach Ronan (accordion, backing vocals), Aidan Spiers (guitar, backing vocals), Seòras Chlad (bass, backing vocals) and Andrew Grossart (drum kit, percussion), have a busy summer lined up.
The album launch at SWG3 was on of of their most significant live shows to date, hot off the heels of performances at the Loreburn Hall in Dumfries, the Eilidh MacLeod Memorial Trust Annual Charity Ball, Govan Music Festival and An Talla Mòr on Skye., DLÙ also played at The Reeling at Rouken Glen Park on 8th June.
Moilidh NicGriogair of DLÙ said: “We were really excited to play our launch gig at SWG3. So far the feedback on our new music has been incredible so we’re looking forward to sharing more of the album over the next couple weeks. Close To was written with live audiences in mind, based on what listeners responded well to from our first  album so we can’t wait to see everyone at the gig, experiencing the album for the first time together.”
DLÙ’s eclectic musical backgrounds influence their original melodies and arrangements setting them apart from the status-quo. The band have quickly established themselves as a young Scottish band to watch, winning the Danny Kyle Open Stage at Celtic Connections in 2018 and releasing their debut album Moch to critical acclaim in 2022.
