On Saturday 31st August on Celtic Music Radio Album of the Week when I will be in conversation with Chloe Matharu about her new album – ‘Sailors and Rolling Stones’  from which she released a single ‘Into The Earth’ on 4th August.
Find out more about the making of this album, where she draws her material and inspiration from and her upcoming tour of the album.
Chloe is a multi- Award winning singer songwriter and harpist living in Wemyss Bay on the West Coast of Scotland. She draws inspiration from the natural environment around her as experienced at sea as a Navigational Officer in the Merchant Navy. Her purpose in music is to lend a voice to the modern day seafarer; to write a new chapter in maritime folk music.  Chloe is Scottish Indian with cultural roots in the Punjab, Scotland and Wales.  Last summer she was featured on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour, featured on TV in the BBC Scotland News programme, The Seven, as well as performing at Cambridge Folk Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe. She has won Celtic Music Radio’s Album of the Year in December 2022, a Danny Award at Celtic Connections in February 2023, was nominated in the Wales Folk Awards in April 2023, was a finalist in Canada’s Goderich Celtic Music Festival Emerging Artist Showcase, and won the Greenock Telegraph’s Live Music Award in May 2023.
