Shelagh McKay Jones – Greenock
Folk singer-songwriter sings a mix of traditional and modern folk songs including her own material. Shelagh sings around the Greenock area and took part in the Inverclyde Folk & Roots Festival supported Gaberlunzie. She is currently working on a new CD of songs relating to the history of the people who came to live and work in Greenock in the late 1800 and 1900’s including some songs based on the poems written by Shelagh’s great –great grandfather. Something Someone – Alloa
Something, Someone is a Clackmannanshire and Glasgow based folk trio that is sweet and soft to the ears. With a noticeable jazz influence combined with Celtic inspiration, Morgan, Rachel and Joe know how to expose the beauty within their songs while still bringing the pop element forward. Each member of Something, Someone being a multi-instrumentalist who wanders between main and backup vocals, giving the listener layers of harmony and melody to get lost in through their delicate, yet elaborate arrangements. David Fagan from Meath on guitar and vocals ; Terence Hickey from Dublin on Bouzouki and vocals ; Emma Donnelly from Roscommon on Flute and vocals ; Jordan Mew from Roscommon on ‘flatpack’ cajon and vocals and Tom Delany from Claire on Uilleann Pipes. Chainsaw Tea Party – West of Scotland
A new up and coming country/folk band hailing from the University of the West of Scotland Commercial Music course. They have taken the original folk setup and added a twist, combining element of modern, popular and traditional instrumentation. At the same time adding their own lyrics with haunting harmonies they bring us their intriguing sound. They have recorded a demo as well. Iona Grace Fyfe – Huntly, Aberdeenshire
Growing up in Huntly, in the tradition and the Doric tongue, Iona also sings classic traditional Scots bothy ballads and fishing songs. As a fond consumer of the Greig-Duncan Folk Collection, she recently composed melodies to verses/lyrics in the collection which had no known melody attached. Iona has worked her way round TMSA and Heritage Society festivals across Scotland. She has been involved in the Creative Scotland funded Commonwealth Project called “Where You’re Meant to Be” – a musical roadtrip of Scotland featuring Aidan Moffat and James Graham as well as other singers and musicians. The tour finished up at the Glasgow Barrowlands, along side balladeers such as Sheila Stewart, Joe Aitken Geordie Murison and Jim Taylor. Listen Again
