The Danny Kyle Open Stage at The Spree 2014 comes to an end today, Saturday 18 October, with the Finalists taking part in the concert between 5 and 6.00pm.
The Spree Festival has been a fantastic 8 days of music, comedy, workshops, talks and pure entertainment. No more so than at the Danny Kyle Open Stage at The Spree where 24 entrants took part.
In accordance with the ‘rules’ of The Danny Kyle Open stage, all winners, but out of all the winners we have been given 4 finalists, three of whom will perform again today between 5 and 6.00pm.
Katee Kross
Katee a young singer songwriter from Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, currently a second year music student in at Reid Kerr West Clyde College in Paisley and has recently recorded her debut EP ‘Are You Coming Home’. She has played at various festivals throughout Scotland this year as well as opening for the American band Red Sky in July. Her gentle voice carries her insightful words to the wider audience and she can certainly look forward to her future in the music scene.
David Nicol
David is a singer songwriter from Inverclyde; is a seasoned performer supporting musicians such as Justin Townes Earle, Rom Russell and Martin Stepheson, as well as performing in concerts, music festivals and house concerts throughout the UK, USA, Canada and Germany. He is also a member of a well known local band The Lazarenkos. His songwrighting skill tells a vivid story taking influence from his home town and Scotland. He is in the process of releasing his CD ‘Greenock Road’.
Martha L Healy
Martha a singer-songwriter from Glasgow who has been singing and performing for several years and has just released her debut EP ‘Better Days’ (Unplugged) which she recorded in Nashville. While there she also recorded and released a song ‘Healing Winds’ to raise funds for Nashville promoter and presenter Billy Bloc for his cancer treatment, from which he is now clear. Her rich voice brings the song home her style described from folk to country, from Americana to contemporary, in other words appeals to a wide discerning audience.
Lemonhaze
Steaven Hillcoat / Gerry Doran /Jon Adams / Jamie McLachlan go to make up this Glasgow based band, they have crafted a unique mixture of experimental rock described as ‘wide screen indie rock’. They have headlined at Manchester Academy, King Tuts, Oran Mor to name but a few. Their EP will be due for release soon. Their stunning harmonies and crafted lyrics make sure that this group are more than listened to and are looking forward to gigging extensively in 2015.
