Tripple have a huge love of the traditional music and songs of Scotland and especially enjoy arranging them in a contemporary way. Using interesting harmonies and finely tuned dynamics we love bringing the old songs, and their stories, to life.
Have been out and about at  festivals and gigs in Orkney, Portsoy, Huntly, Aberdeen, Dunfermline and Glasgow. Annie, a former student at the NCETM in Plockton, was a tutor at the 2018 Huntly Summer Music school and Cait runs youth bands and singing groups with SWAMP in Pollock. We ran harmony singing workshops at the 2018 Dunfermline Folk weekender. Excitingly we were finalists at the Danny Kyle stage in Paisley 2018! Between us we appear, and have appeared, in NYCoS, the North East Folk Collective, the Strathspey Fiddlers, Feis Rois Ceilidh Trail, and Peplo. We have performed in Ireland, Canada, USA, France, Germany, Finland, Norway and all over Scotland.    Tripple is an old Scots word describing both a dance step and the swell of the tide which neatly sums up our approach to song.

We 3 Quinns

Catherine  / Jamie / Patrick

We Three Quinns is a family concern – you must be called Quinn to join. Wielding a range of instruments they have many years of playing and singing at sessions, events and various churches across Scotland!Catherine is the most far flung living in the wilds of Old Kilpatrick where she regularly sings in the hills – think Sound of Music meets Donovan.Jamie is a Suzuki trained fiddler and stalwart of the Glasgow session scene.  Being a Mathematician to trade he is your man for a solid count in to start a tune…Patrick is still trying to learn to play an instrument properly but has been a busy musician because he has always had a car and access to a decent PA!

Calum McIlroy Trio

Calum McIlroy/ Megan MacDonald / Ruairidh Gollan

Calum McIlroy is a guitarist, mandolinist and Scots singer from Elrick in Aberdeenshire.A proponent of the flatpicking style of guitar and mandolin playing, his strong sense of melody is at the heart of his music. His arrangements for solo guitar feature self-composed material as well as tunes from many different traditions.Through intricate and detailed guitar accompaniment, he presents a range of traditional Scots songs as well as those from America and of his own composition. A student at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he has been taught by highly regarded tutors such as Kevin MacKenzie, Innes Watson and Rod Paterson. In addition to his experience in Scottish folk music, Calum has a passion for the music of Scandinavia, and has taken part in the UKM Arctic Festival in Finnsnes, Norway (2014) and more recently Ethno Sweden. In 2017 he collaborated with Kristina Leesik, a fiddle player from Stockholm in Sweden and as a duo they made the highly recommended list of the Danny Kyle Open Stage competition at Celtic Connections 2018.

Black Feather

Sian Chandler / Ray Hughes

The ability to write songs that are both modern and ancient is a rare thing. The product of an arcane art of weaving in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations. The Black Feathers, made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler, are two such talents. The perfectly paired timbres of their voices create a tone that reaches deep down into the listener and stirs up powerful – and sometimes surprising – emotions. A broad and deep range of musical traditions, from rock and folk to roots and Americana, can be heard within their songs, resulting in a unique sound, with Hughes’ fine guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands.

Brad Reid

Brad Reid is a fiddler and multi-instrumentalist from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. His music is rooted in the Cape Breton tradition, passed on by his grandparents and family, who played the fiddle and piano at many family gatherings. With a love for the traditional repertoire, Brad now composes tunes, performs with his Baroque N’ Fiddle String Quartet, the Cape Breton Fiddler’s Association (having first attended the sessions with his grandfather), and various solo and collaborative projects.
