The Southside Fiddlers are an enthusiastic and exciting group of young musicians from Glasgow. They are taught by Louise Hunter who has been running her fiddle school for seventeen years. The group have played at many concerts, competitions and festivals both at home and away. They delight audiences wherever they go with their mix of Irish and Scottish traditional music and their love of performing. All aged 8-16 years old.

Roberto Cassani & Owen Nicholson

https://listenagain.canstream.co.uk/celticpodcast/audio/podcast-2019-01-27-58319.mp3

Roberto Cassani, double bass player and story-singer, is but the rarest of musical rascals. One born with mischief and artistry in mind and who never allows himself to follow the trend (and quickly jumps off the boat if he perceives that he may be on course to be doing something even remotely trendy). Some have argued with Roberto that if he had remained in one place, stuck to one language or indeed one formula, he would by now be able to pay the bills…. In response he sticks his tongue out to all, for he sees all as an apprenticeship of unknown length and purpose… Is joined on stage with Owen Nicholson

John Anaya

John is playing solo today but usually plays with The John Anaya Band – is a high energy upbeat band defining the Folk genre of Hard Core Folk. Being built in Edinburgh’s vibrant Folk Scene, at little bars like The Royal Oak and Captains Bar, and playing the bigger stages like Stramash regularly, this guys bring the playing. The fine Scottish traditon of session and jam are what is captured in these players arrangements. While John is the songwriter, the band plays with genres, Trad, Celtic, Boogie, Blues, Bluegrass and Punk Rock. people dance, scream, drink and generally have a great time whem the 6 of these guys start. The band is: Ben Errington on Fiddle (Baba Yaga), John Anaya on acoustic/vocals, Jaunjo Mata on Harmonica, Stuart “Pockets” Crout on mini drum kit/vocals, Martin Beer on upright bass and Scott Cunningham on lead acoustic guitar. The playing is stellar, the energy is contagious and audiences are always blown away. w
