Dowally

Rachel Walker / Phil Alexander / David Abrahams
Dowally is the meeting point of three musicians from very different worlds. Rachel Walker plays fiddle in the Scottish folk tradition, Phil Alexander is a professor, player and performer of Klezmer (Jewish traditional) music, and Daniel Abrahams is a jazz guitarist.

Their first album was described as “Something very special” and “Truly great music-making” and ‘great stuff’ by BBC Radio Scotland.Their latest album (released June 2018) ‘Somewhere’ was recorded live at the famous Castlesound Studio in Pencaitland, home to many great Scottish artists over the past 50 years including Karine Polwart, Lau and Blue Nile. The album’s tracks could be imagined as folk music from a made-up land, perhaps some lost island somewhere between Orkney and the Baltic coast. Dowally’s musical melting pot brews up thrilling folk music from an imaginary country.
