Falkirk Traditional Music project is an after school music initiative that provides lessons for children aged P4 to S6. The project has been running for over fifteen years and has grown to now engaging over 140 children weekly. The project has three different trad bands – junior, intermediate and advanced and each band features a host of instruments including fiddle, mandolin, accordion, whistle and bodhran. The bands will play a selection of instrumental material from traditional Scottish tunes to melodies from further afield including Scandinavian, American and European.

After several years, and hundreds of gigs performing as a solo artist, Ashley Sherlock has now formed a full band, and has been working on an album of new material. Their fantastic blend of gritty blues, falsetto vocal melodies and a jazz/funk-inspired rhythm section creates a sound that is highly appealing to all that hear it, and makes for a very captivating live show. In the short time that the band has been together, they have performed many festival slots, headline shows and local gigs supporting major artists such as Matt Terry and Union J (of X-factor fame) and many international touring artists, receiving superb reviews at every performance.

Joe Martin is one of the forerunner of the budding Americana scene in the UK Being first inspired by hit show ‘Nashville, Joe has been on an incredible musical journey which has led him to performing at the one and only Bluebird Café in Nashville. Her also released his debut EP ‘Small World’ and had recently released a single ‘Better Than Today’as well as working on material for his next release
Bronda Mcvitta – Rostrevor – Listen Again Link
Scots-Irish folk chanteuse Brona McVittie is lead singer and harpist for the award-winning London Lasses and a member of neo-impressionist outfit littlebow. Her debut solo album We Are the Wildlife (Out Jan 2018) is a psychogeographic journey through a collection of traditional folk ballads and original neofolk compositions inspired by the beauty and majesty of her native County Down. McVittie’s double A-side single Under the Pines featuring traditional love ballad Newry Mountain
(which will feature on the forthcoming album) was premiered on Folk Radio UK 19 June 2017 and has since been broadcast on Lauren Laverne’s 6 Music Recommends on BBC Radio 6, RTE Lyric FM’s Blue of the Night show, BBC Radio Ulster’s The Late Show, Across the Line and Folk Club shows, the Underground of Happy at UCC, and RTV IJsselmond in The Netherlands.
