Danny finalists last year this young band have blazed a trail across the country and a full schedule during Celtic Connections –Fri 25 in the Broadcast for their EP launch- Sat 26th Jan in the CCA . The also have gigs at CC on Campus on the 24th at Caledonian Uni.

Lynnie Carson is a singer-songwriter who hails from the rain drenched, former fishing town of Gourock, Scotland. Renowned for her live performances she has a voice reminiscent of her sheroes Stevie Nicks and Sheryl Crow. Has had a busy years gigging including St Andrews In The Square at the Americana Festival in Glasgow. A new single ‘Love Is’ in the summer was warmly received
As well as the showcase you can see Lynnie along with Kieran Goss & Annie Kinsella at The Mitchel Theatre on Sunday 20th Jan at 7:30pm
The Canny Band – Sam – Mabbett & Michael Biggins
After year of playing together in various different bands, Sam Mabbett (Melodeon) and Michael Biggins (piano) come together as a duo to form ‘The Canny Band’.
Michael and Sam first met at Folkworks traditional music summer school in 2013 and quickly decided that they should be making music together. However, as they lived at opposite ends of the country, this proved difficult! Now, 5 years on, they live around the corner from each other in Glasgow and have no excuse not to play together!
The pair are currently students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and play music from Ireland, Scotland and everywhere else. Gig at Celtic Connections 20th Jan in The Tron Theatre along with Mary Ann Kennedy ‘Glaschu’
Gardening for Bumblebees – Sam Begbie & Joe Doyle
This Glasgow Based Indie , folk duo finished off a very successful year of recording and gigin at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut at a sell out concert in December. The are currently getting their album together for early release with newly written material and some ‘old favourites’
As well as the showcase and gig at CC Cali on Campus on the 24th – concert broadcast live by CMR- they appear with Sam Reider & The Human Hands on 25th Jan in the Drygate Brewery.
Savannah Donohoe & Charlie Galloway
Savannah has been playing Irish music for over ten years and is influenced by both Irish and Scottish styles. She plays the flute and saxophone and is accompanied by Charlie Galloway, Lancaster born, RCS Glasgow student. He has similar style interests and they travel in Ireland a lot and also have played in Germany together. Their unique blend and choice of tunes are distinctive but respect both traditions. Newly formed in 2016 and have been gigging here and in Ireland and are laying down tracks for an album
As well as the showcase at Celtic Connections they will be appearing at The Drygate Brewery on 19th Jan along with The Gary Innes Band
A gifted guitarist and prolific songwriter, Joel Gardner is a refreshingly unique artist with a diverse palette of inspired, original songs. He uses all parts of the guitar to create melodic, catchy music with powerful, thought provoking lyrics. His songs simply explode with positive energy. Performing and touring extensively over two continents since 2015; his live performances vary from emotive and intimate at his solo shows to uplifting and energetic with his backing band behind him. His latest EP sold hundreds of copies worldwide and received rave reviews. Joel said ‘2018 was a MASSIVE step up; I’ve played the biggest shows of my career, toured in 5 different countries and written some of the best songs I have ever written’
Joel will be appearing at Celtic Connections on Thurs 24th Jan in the CCA along with Mull Historial Society with Bernard Butler.
