Natalie Chalmers – Glasgow  – Listen Again 
Natalie is a traditional Scots singer, and storyteller who enjoys performing around Scotland. She first starting singing at the age of eight and has won prizes at junior and senior level as a regular festival go-er. Past highlights have included qualifying for the annual Bothy Ballad “Champion of Champions” at Elgin and taking the Alford Cattle Show to Celtic Connections, with the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music.  Natalie’s musical influences are wide ranging from Geordie Murison to Greenday, greatest influences being  Stanley Robertson, Elizabeth Stewart!

 

Ross Miller & Charlie Stewart – Glasgow    – Listen Again 
This exciting new pipe and fiddle duo create a dynamic blend of traditional tunes and songs. Ross and Charlie produce is based around tight tune playing, variations, interweaving harmonies and rhythmic ideas.  Ross is an established competition piper and Pipe Major of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland. He is studying pipes, Scots song and whistles at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and playing regularly in the newly formed ‘Foot Stompin’ Ceilidh Band’. Charlie is also a student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland studying fiddle and double bass. Other bands he performs with include ‘Dosca’, ‘Levack Stewart Irving’ and ‘Sketch’.

 The Colour of Whisky  – Glasgow   – Listen Again 
No member of ‘ The Colour of Whisky’ lives or, to the best of our available knowledge, has ever lived near the sea but it’s a recurring reference in lyrics and music for this new Glasgow based 4 piece. Maybe it’s the romantic memory of mariners past, with short days on land and a thirst to slake that draws us to the ocean. They have collectively played in many bands over the years, but this is their first collaboration together. Drawing from country music, classical, blues, gypsy, folk and abit of flamenco too, everybody contributes from their varied musical histories to create an eclectic blend of lyrical storytelling. Formed in November 2014, the first 12 months has seen the band establish themselves as a major draw in the live scene, while working on their debut album.

Eabhal – Glasgow    – Listen Again 
A four piece contemporary folk and traditional band originally formed on the Isle of Uist in the Outer-Hebrides. They plays music from Scotland, Ireland and further afield. Alongside self-penned tunes, they produce a melting pot of sound representing their very different backgrounds. Having been gigging up and down the U.K for the past year and now based in Glasgow, have a show of great tunes and great craic. Some of their previous performances include, Ceol on the Croft, Celtic Connections, Tiree Music Festival, Eden Festival along side bands such as Pikey Beatz, The Outside Track and Daimh. Recorded their debut EP at Gran’s House Studio with Angus Lyon

Katie Macfarlane   – Airdrie    – Listen Again 
A Gaelic and Scots singer from Airdrie. Has a love of the Gaelic music and  language is currently studying Gaelic in  first year at the University of Glasgow. Singing is her passion and this developed she sang at Fѐis Tir an Eorna in North Uist and joined the Falkirk Junior Gaelic Choir at the age of seven. Since then she have competed each year at the National Mod and won a gold badge for Learners 11-12 solo in 2010, both Skelmorlie & District Highland Association Quaich for Previous Prizewinners solo and Provist of Falkirk gold medal for 16-18 traditional solo in 2015 and in  semi-final of BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2016 and have sung at the UKM Arctic Youth Festival in Finnsnes, Norway.
