The Rowies   – Aberdeenshire   – Listen Again
The Rowies are a young up and coming band based in Aberdeenshire.  In spite of their ages, the eldest is 16 and the other three are 14 years old, this does not restrict their impressive musicianship. They play traditional material in an exciting, tight and driving way, producing all arrangements themselves with the band working closely together.  They also perform some of their own compositions and songs.  Soaring instrumentals on fiddle (Andrew) and guitar (Arthur) are grounded and enhanced by Stuart’s strong and persuasive percussion.  Ellie sings traditional bothy songs adding a new twist with her captivating and soulful voice supported by the boys’ instrumentals. They are all passionate about traditional music and faithful, knowledgeable followers of the current trad scene. Since forming in September 2016 the band have had a busy time and to date have notched up support gigs to Nordic Fiddlers Bloc, Rant and at the Blue Lamp in Aberdeen, The Crooked Brothers (Canada) and the most exciting to date: the Old Blind Dogs, both at Glenbuchet Hall.
