Ellie is an alternative folk artist whose music is understated and utterly absorbing.Elie ford has raw charm as a solo performer, using her concert harp as accompaniment to her stylistic and sultry voice. Taking influence from a range of genres and mixing classical instrumentation with modern songwriting and powerful lyricism, Ellie Ford has a uniqueness that sets her apart from many other musicians in her genre. 2016 saw the release of Ford’s debut album ‘The Other Sun’ (Hidden Trail Records) and gigged extensively last year. She is currently residing in the Scottish Highlands writing her second album (release in Oct 2017) and will be touring the UK and Europe extensively in 2017.
Amer/ Hawksworth / Munro – Kilwinning – Listen Again
This newly established trio brings three distinct musicians into a fresh collaboration. Together, they craft original compositions that flow organically whilst affording the listener breathing space. Individually, the group come from Scottish traditional music backgrounds, but here the harmony and structure is lent from more modern influences. The music is characterised throughout with a tasteful restraint, and a minimalist compositional style that utilises motifs, riffs and thematic development. All three members of the group are from the Central Belt of Scotland. They recorded their debut EP, Confluence, with Angus Lyon at Grans House, and released it in December 2016.
Jane Gilbert – Edinburgh – Listen Again
Jane’s music reflects that of early 70’s acoustic folk. She writes raw, stripped back songs, which highlight her pure, haunting and ethereal style of singing. Her self titled debut EP was released and launched to a sold out audience in Feb 2016. Jane has gigged extensively including the Great Escape Festival and Sofar Sounds Brighton. Jane has now relocated back to her hometown, Edinburgh. Jane began touring in Europe late last year and has performed at a number of venues across France, Germany and the Czech Republic including cities such as Berlin, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Dresden and Prague.
