Alasdair Whyte and Ross Whyte
Emerging Gaelic electronica duo released their debut album, Fairich as part of Sound Festival in Aberdeen on 21 October 2016. Each from very different musical backgrounds (ambient electronica and traditional Gaelic), their songs have drawn comparisons with Sigur Rós and Martyn Bennett. Following several successful live performances throughout Scotland and radio play on BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Travelling Folk’, WHɎTE secured funding from Creative Scotland to record their debut release. Fairich was recorded in the late summer of 2016 at the University of Aberdeen and in a cave beneath Dunnottar Castle and features a selection of arrangements of rarely-heard 17th 8th century Gaelic songs as well as original compositions. Also Finalists on the DKOS at The Spree 2016
Steve Grozier Listen Again
Steve Grozier is a Scottish alt-country singer/songwriter based in Glasgow, Scotland. His style is “reminiscent of Ryan Adams or Ray Lamontagne.” Released debut EP Take my Leave in 2016 and is Currently recording his next EP. “The music Grozier produces is warm and beautiful, invoking the alt country ghosts of Whiskeytown and Jay Farrar’s Son Volt.
Sylvie McFarlane and David Brown –Motherwell Listen Again
Sylvie and David have been writing and recording their own songs on and off for a numbers of years and playing gigs in and around Glasgow. Last year they released an EP and an album called “Life” and plan another EP shortly. Their music has been described as americana indie folk. Sylvie is a Scottish singer-songwriter whose songs reach the soul of every woman. Her song writing reflects her Scottish roots and life near Glasgow
The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Juniors Listen Again
The highly acclaimed Junior Conservatoire music programme has been running for over 50 years. Talented young musicians from all over Scotland travel to Glasgow every Saturday for tuition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The Trad Ensemble is a group which has grown from within this musical melting pot. Hailing from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Arran they bring together their unique styles to create exciting arrangements of old and new music.
Davy Nicol – Greenock Listen Again
Davy’s CD ‘Greenock Road’ a tribute to the shipbuilding heritage of his home town of Grenock was critically acclaimed when it was released last year. Dany is influenced by a wide range of genres from Folk to alternative country styles. Winner a quite a few songwriting competitions and Davy is currently working on material for a follow up album while giging heavily extensively in his own area but at festivals throughout Scotland.
