Eabhal – Glasgow – Listen Again
Hamish Hepburn/ Megan MacDonald / Jamie MacDonald / Nicky Kirk
Eabhal are four young musicians who met and began making music together on the Outer-Hebrides’ Isle of Uist. Playing folk and traditional music from Scotland, Ireland, Asturias and further alongside self-penned tunes and Gaelic songs, they produce a melting pot of sound representative of their very different backgrounds. Since the release of their self-titled E.P the band have toured throughout Scotland and England and taken their music over to Europe with plans set to return later this year.
Joseph Miller – Paisley – Listen Again
Joseph Miller is a singer and songwriter based in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2012 he started playing small shows around London where he was living and working at the time. In early 2014 he independently released an acoustic collection of songs titled The ‘One-Take’ sessions. The tracks were originally recorded as demos in one take with just an acoustic guitar and vocal. The release was praised by several online blogs who celebrated his striking voice and emotive lyrics. In November of 2014 Joseph was personally selected by Christina Perri (‘Jar of Hearts’/’A Thousand Years’) to open for her on the Glasgow stop of her ‘Head or Heart Tour’. He has also opened for Stu Larsen, Tom Speight and Into The Ark as well as many of Glasgow’s very own rising talent – Mick Hargan, Sharon Martin and Panic Anchor. Not only has he opened for artists of such high calibre but he has headlined many of Glasgow’s most iconic venues – King Tuts, o2 ABC2, QMU, The Old Hairdressers, The Glad Café and most recently Cottiers Theatre.
Daisy Doherty – Glasgow – Listen Again
Is a 19 year old singer song writer based in Glasgow. Although, I had been writing songs for years, I only began to perform them properly in 2016 – really letting my passion for music, and my talent for it, flourish. My music and song writing is based primarily around my voice, which throughout the years has developed into its own unique style. It is clear my songs are rooted in folk music through the stories that are told within them, however to the ear they appear to have a slightly soulful twist. 2016 was an exciting for me, and gave me the opportunity to play in some of Glasgow’s great music venues: The Old Hairdressers, Broadcast, Record Factory, and the Hug n’ Pint to name but a few. I look forward to more exciting and musical times ahead in 2017.
Jamie Quinn & Ayden Murray – Glasgow – Listen Again
After playing together for several years at various sessions across Glasgow, Jamie and Ayden have decided to take their relationship to the next level and form a duo with a previously unheard of level of physics knowledge. Both studying at Glasgow University, Jamie towards a PhD in Maths and Ayden towards an BEng in Electronics and Software Engineering, the duo first met as part of the university’s Folk Music Group, playing at concerts including Celtic Connections on Campus and Oxjam. As a duo, playing a combination of self-written compositions and both modern and traditional session tunes from all over Scotland, Ireland and Canada, Jamie and Ayden have been part of events including the university’s yearly evening concert and Glasgow’s very first Kale Festival
Tom Vevers Glasgow – Listen Again
writes music about love, life, loss and personal experiences combining witty, poetic and story-driven lyrics; catchy, attention-grabbing melodies and a strong, emotive and unique Scottish voice to create memorable music that buries itself in the mind of the listener. Tom’s approach to songwriting is unique in its vulnerability; his ‘heart on the sleeve’ approach draws people in, making his live performances intense, emotional “pin drop” affairs. He has been performing for several years and has been gaining considerable attention within the Scottish music scene. He has had his music featured on several radio stations, online blogs, performed at various festivals and performed on several Scottish music television programs including Rapal TV for BBC ALBA and the Riverside Show (now Live At Five) for STV Glasgow. More recently, Tom performed his first London show at the Roundhouse in Camden as part of Rising Sounds 2016 and has continued to build his audience with sell out shows at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Broadcast and Nice N Sleazys. Work has begun on Tom’s new recording. ‘Exactly What You Need Right Now’ is scheduled for release in 2017 with production work handled by Tom and Robbie Orr, a Glasgow-based musician and producer. The album will convey the raw, immersive and emotional performances that Tom achieves in his live shows , and will be supported by a series of launch shows and performances throughout the year towards the recording’s release. 2017 looks set to be another exciting year for Tom and his music.
