Jo Philby and Elaine Grevie – Orkney – Listen Again
For 2016 Jo Philby returns with a streamlined line up, concentrating on the core elements that have characterised the quality output from this popular Orkney based singer/songwriter. Now in a very popular duo with Orcadian born Elaine are out there gigging and can often be seen performing throughout Orkney and regularly appears at Orkney Folk Festival & St Magnus international Festival. Jo has two albums out in her own right and last year and EP containing songs written by Jo and Elaine.
Paper Cranes – Beckah Lloyd Jon Dawes – Barrow in Furnace Listen Again
A folk duo from the South of the Lake District; Paper Cranes capture the intimacy of a campfire jam with the energy to fill a venue, like a baked potato with melted cheese and tuna. They’re wholesome and leave you with a warm feeling in your belly They are gigging at festivals such as Kendal Calling and Beatherder and a number of smaller festivals all over the UK. The Boy With The Lion Head – The Borders Listen again

The Boy with the Lion Head is a five piece from the Scottish Borders that play indie post rock. They combine raw edged, Scottish tongued vocals with intricately layered atmospheric sounds to create catchy chorus driven songs that are delivered as passionately told true stories. In 2015 the band released a self recorded acoustic EP ‘The Ebb and Flow’ to greater success than expected.
Eve Sutherland – Renfrewshire Listen Again
Eve Sutherland, a young teenage singer songwriter and guitarist. Who has been playing since she was 9 We first saw her as Danny Kyle finalist at the Spree Festival in Paisley in 2016. She is honing her stage craft and we will be seeing more of her in the future
Balter – Newcastle Upon Tyne Listen Again
Heather Ferrier – accordion / clog dance; Holly Clarke – guitar /vocals; Anna Hughes – fiddle/vocals ; Imogen Bose-Ward – fiddle/vocals
Balter are a four-piece all female band playing contemporary and traditional music as well as selfpenned tunes and songs. Playing a combination of Scottish and own compositions, with influences from each member’s musical background. Balter’s style approaches their arrangements with a fresh and unique force. Blowing the dust off traditional repertoire through music song and dance, they give the material a new lease of life; achieving driven, high energy and sensitive arrangements.
